Tropical - Banana - Cavendish

The Cavendish banana (Musa acuminata ‘Dwarf Cavendish’) populates supermarket shelves and makes up almost the entire global export market.  Fruit is usually 6-10 inches long.  They can be eaten raw or used in recipes.  Green skin before ripe; yellow skin when ripe, white flesh.  Smooth texture, sweet flavor.  The Dwarf Cavendish banana tree gets its name because of its short stalk of eight to 10 feet. Young leaves are purple or red in color, but they turn green as they grow and produce large flowers.
