The macadamia nut tree produces some of the world’s most expensive nuts & surprise! It can grow in Phoenix. Native to Australia, these trees are glossy broadleaf evergreens. Flowers range from pink to white. Macadamias are buttery, oily nut with a rich flavor and develop within a round and woody shell. The shell is several times tougher to crack than a hazelnut but is well worth it. Like most nut trees, they are heavy drinkers so water deep & regularly. Give it extra care the first year or so with the heat as our Phoenix summer will be harsh on it until established. This tree will need morning sun. In winter it will need protection when we dip into the 30s. Self-fruitful but will produce more with additional pollination.
