Shade - Purple Leaf Plum

Purple Leaf Plum tree is a medium sized deciduous tree used for foliar and floral accent.  It has switch branches upright yet compact, wood is relatively hard and brittle.  Moderately slow grower to 15 to 20 feet in height with less than or equal spread.  Leaves are oblong, purple in color with serrate margins.  Perfect white to pink flowers on branches in early spring in Phoenix.  This is a very cold hardy tree. It is also heat tolerant (with adequate water of course).  Full sun for best summer purple leaf color.  Summer leaf color will 'green out' in Phoenix if trees are in a shaded location.
